Boston Compact in Action
Black and Latino Boys School Partnership | March 29, 2016
This month, we are excited to announce a new opportunity for schools in forming a Black and Latino Boys School Partnership. Through our Request for Partnership Participants, we are seeking schools that are eager to engage in a small network to identify and share practices that support the academic and social-emotional development of black and Latino boys and young men.
Participants of this cross-sector partnership will focus on identifying the practices and conditions that allow black and Latino male students to thrive. Participating educators will explore promising practices in their own classroom and schools as well as reflect with peers on which practices and structures are effective in multiple school types. With support from the Compact, they will have the opportunity to share this knowledge broadly and emerge as leaders in the city.
Diversity Career Fair | February 23, 2016
For a second year, school leaders came together through the Compact to host a Diversity Career Fair for Teachers of Color. Almost 200 educators who represented the city’s cultural, linguistic, and ethnic diversity gathered in Roxbury. Prospective teachers connected with more than 40 BPS, charter, and Catholic schools to support the growth of a more diverse teacher population. We thank everyone who came out for this important event.
