In his 2016 State of the City address, Mayor Martin J. Walsh called for the city to advance the collaborative efforts that will improve education for every child, every teacher, and every school in Boston. He specifically noted the importance of continuing to explore a unified enrollment system that would help families and create one set of enrollment policies for all schools. This is the spirit which created the Boston Compact, a collaboration between the Catholic, charter and district schools to serve all the students in Boston. It has led to improvements in classroom instruction, collaboration on data, shared practices, and significant transportation savings.
